I came across a painting from a young artist called Henrik Uldalen (check him out, his work is amazing). I immediately wanted to replicate and learn this technique, and some of the cool skin tones he used.
I suspect he does all “Alla prima”, in a single session, but I’m nowhere near that level, so I prepared the canvas and the base shapes in a few sessions before adding the “washed” effect. It’s still nowhere near the original, but it was a great learning experience.
